I had a part-time job at this Petrol Station in 1969 when I secured a job in Canada and left England, never to permanently return. I was working full-time in Portsmouth Dockyard at the time, but this station provided much needed spare cash. My first car was an Austin A35 (1956 vintage I think) and this station provided me with free oil. Whenever we served a can of oil to a customer, we nicked the edge of the can ...see more
I attended this school from about 1952 through 1956 completing my 11 Plus before moving on to Cowplain Boys School. We lived in Potwell, where my father was Chauffeur Gardener for the Dr. Eden family in (the amazing to me) Potwell House. We lived in a rather primitive tithe cottage that has since been demolished. My Family came to Purbrook in 1965/1966,as they needed a big house for all their growing children,and I joined them in 67. My memories of this wonderful &Quaint village you can laugh but it holds many memories for me it had about 2 churches ,to many pubs ,the chemist where mum brought us tab(it was a fizzy cola drink),the wool shop that my mother was always popping into , Post Office where mum got stamps and ...see more
