Memories As Clear As Yesterday

A Memory of Sale.

I have clear and wonderful memories of 1958 and 1959 cycling down School Road and then Ashton Lane to my girlfriend Joan's house on Totnes Road. I remeber too, taking her into Woolworths to buy a hoop for her skirt which was very stylish then. I have thousands of wonderful and warm memories of those glorious years. A quieter, calmer, simpler time. How I miss those years. Although it's changed a bit since then, I can't wait to walk down School Road and Ashton lane again on my next visit.

I lived in Totnes Rd and had a sister called Joan, was it one of the Dempseys?

Hi Sheelagh, thanks for you message, my Dear Joan ( Family name was Walker) lived at 27 Totnes Road in the 1950's till around the 1980's. Which number on Totnes Road were you.? Did you know the Walkers. Her mum's name was Nora, Dad John although they called him Oscar, and Joan had 2 brothers, John & Kevin. Sadly they have all passed on and I have just found out that my Dear Joan passed on in August 2014. Best regards, Philip
