Franklin Street Ordsall Salford 5

A Memory of Salford.

How many of you remember Pat Curry's pub on the corner of Franklin Street facing Steens sewing company olivies on the third corner best days of my life. I used to play football on that corner with a gang of lads that lived on Franklin Street, not sure if any of them are about now. Oxtons, Holdens, Lavins.
At the other end of the street was Bamfords chippy and Rickeys corner shop later became Normans. Do you remember Filding and Bowlins greengrocers at the bottom of Derby Street? The days of my teens. Do any of you remember me, Harry Fletcher? I lived at number 73 Franklin Street. Write back if you do or add your memorie's
Best regards.

My name is Ann (nee Walmsley). I lived next to Bamforths chippy. I used to mind Ricky from the shops children. I remember Derek Holden winding up the owner of Taylor’s paper shop by asking for “push it sticks”. He also shook a bottle of Melry bleach all over the same shop counter. Marion Holden was my friend. We lived next door to them.
Hi Ann I remember you and your family well from Franklin st. Derick Holden was my best mate back then I remember his sister went to live near Monton at the back of the football field when she married.Rick shop was a long time ago as was Bamfords chip shop. Do you remember Mrs peacocks and Mrs forster. It all seems so long ago now but great memories of that time. Hope you and your family are all well. Harry Fletcher.
Hi Alan I remember running to the shops many times for Mrs Peacock I lived two doors down from her number 73. Played football for many an hour with Derick on the corner of Franklin street. Great days sadly lost forever. Best regards.
I'm not sure if this thread is still active but I am messaging on behalf of my father, Brian Wilks (born 1938). He lived at 57 Franklin Street with his mum Lilian Wilks.
He is still in touch with Tom Nutall.
Talking of Pat Curries (Northumberland House), he's just shown me a photo of him and Tom standing under the pub sign.
