Salford Childhood Memories

A Memory of Salford.

When the Beatles took off in the early sixties, me and my friends couldn't believe it in those dark rainy school days mornings, something to brighten them up, so we used to pretend to be the Beatles. I was John Lennon. Every morning before we went in school, West Liverpool St, we went on the reck, sat on the swings and used to sing Beatles songs, always making us late for school. For xmas that same year I got my first acoustic guitar, I couldn't play, I didnt have a clue. There was a lad in my class, David Bradshaw, who could play, he was very good and everyone was really impressed by him, even the teachers, so we started a duet together even though I didn't know how to play we got through. He used to bounce when he walked, he was known for it, so when we walked together I automaticaly started bouncing too - I couldnt help it. When the school holidays came we used to go around all the factories in the area, Hodgkinsons Foundry etc and ask if we could play in their break times. Some used to let us, some were miserable. I wonder where Dave is now and if he carried on playing.
