Shute Memoir

A Memory of Shute.

I was at Shute from 1969 to 1974, when it closed. In fact, I was the final head girl. But only by default! My sister and school pals have spent hours over the years telling the same old stories and so I have finally decided to write a memoir. It won't be frightfully flattering, but I think our experience is the closest you will find to a real St. Trinians. If anyone out there remembers me or my sister Judy, it would be great to hear from you. Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
I was Angela (Angie) Nunns in those days. I remember we got confirmed together. I still have that photo. Did you ever stay in touch with Karen? I would love to reconnect.

Hey Carolyn, I remember you especially because you have my mother's name, which made me a bit homesick aged 10. My sister and I were in Yr 1 & 2 and transferred to Overstone when Shute closed in 1974. Fond memories of singing Streets of London on the stage for the Shelter fundraiser in '73. My sis was the young boy in Caucasian Chalk Circle & IIRC you were the boy's mother? Something went wrong with the trunk catch during the performance and you had to mime pulling clothes out of it. I remember watching Princess Anne's wedding on the TV in Mahdi's study, doing the washing up after supper and being supervised when washing in the bathroom (the sort of thing frowned on these days!) *waves*
