Hi, I went to the William Penn Junior School, I also went to the infants school and before that to the nursery, situated at the back of the infants school. I used to work for Slough Borough council for the parks department, and we use to cut all the grass at all the Slough schools, and do all the basic gardening. They changed the senior school into the junior school, I used to do all the gardening there, I remember a teacher from the Junior school, a Miss Morrison who became the head of the of senior school which had obviously become the junior school, she used to teach us art, and stuff, I liked her a lot, she obviously took over from Headmaster Mr Brooks I often wonder what happen to that lovely lady, I do hope she is still alive and doing well. I went back to see the school a few years ago while I was passing, and to my surprise they had knocked them all down, what a shame ! that old brick building could have served other kids instead of demolishing it, and also the infants and the original junior school. My brother Richard went to all these schools he is two years old than me. I had to go to the awful Orchard School in 1968 until 1972 which I hated, I wanted to go to the William Penn senior School, but as I have stated before it was then turned into the junior school, what a shame it is no longer there, If anybody knows what happened to Miss Morrison please send me an e-mail I would like to know. Regards to those who went to these brilliant schools. BTW I'm called Roger. my e-mail Rogeruraeus@gmail.com
A bit after my time, I left William Penn secondary Modern (boys senior ) in 1960, I think the juniors never liked us tho we shared canteen, there was only 1 sloping football field in front of huts (with air raid shelters behind tho uncle Alberts friends demolished them) We had to walk up Stoke Park & change on tumulus! Like we had to walk 1 mile down cinder track to Community Centre to swimming baths and walk back with wet hair! But it was a good school once Leslie Marchant went to Britwell & we got Charlie Nelson as headmaster.
Most of my family went to William penn school my grandfather and his brother, my father and all his brothers the myself and my siblings and then my sons as well the Baldwin family hope fond memories of the school and when I visited Slough I was shocked go see the building had been pulled down such an historic building as well.
