I remember coming here 1961/62 I was around 6/7yrs old. I remember being very frightened when my mum left me. I was put into a dormitory with other girls. There was a big walled playground and a big slide which I was frightened off, and a very large dinning room. On Sundays we would go to the stationary and be allowed to write letter home.We used to go out on a minibus to the sand dunes very often, suppose that was for the sea air. Never knew what I had but I was always coughing, and a bad tummy. My mother never told me what I had she died when I was 18 so never got told. She just told me not to smoke. I don't remember nuns, but perhaps I was too young to know what they was. I must have been happy here as I always smile when thinking of this place.
Does anyone else have memories of this place I was here 61/62 , Would love to here why you was here, and any memories you would like to share.
I think this was the old Promenade Hospital. It was one of two main hospitals in Southport the other being the Infirmary on Scarisbrick New Rd. I had my tonsils removed here sometime in the 50 's
