Bedford Williams Store

A Memory of Wolverhampton.

Hello, does anyone remember the Bedford Williams Store in Victoria Street, Wolverhampton? I was employed there in 1962 until about 1964 in the fabric department and I also worked on the button covering counter and stocking repairs. My supervisor's name was Miss Corkingdale. I would love to see if anyone remembers the store. I now live in Australia and I am trying to build a memory book about my life in England. I was 15 years old when I started work there so it's been a long time. I hope someone can remember either me or the store, or both. Thank you from Kathy Downunder.

Comments & Feedback

Good Afternoon, I remember the Bedford Williams Store very well. I bought a dinner service from Bedford Williams when I was collecting for my 'bottom drawer', I also bought my very first long evening dress from there. It was an empire line style, white lacy top to just underneath the bust and the rest was black, a very elegant dress, and I felt a million dollars the first time I went out in it. I bought lots of kitchen utensils from Bedford Williams one being a whisk which I still have to this day. I must have been about 19 when I purchased that whisk and I'm almost 76 now, and still using it. I do hope you enjoy reading my comment. Regards, Jacqueline Arnold
