School
I went to the St James School next to this church, but left in 1965 when we emigrated to Australia. Surname was Wheeler-Smith. Brothers Michael and Peter. Father Arthur, mother Barbara. Anyone remember? Dad was a fireman and also worked at Roys as a french polisher.
New School
I went to this school when it opened in 1965 and was very new. I remember doing gardening and cooking using new cookers. Our uniforms were brown and white or lemon. I sang in the church choir and went to brownies and guides. I left towards the end on 1967.

My Parents Were Married Here
My parents were married here in August 1953. My mother was raised in the area; my father was in the RAF and had been brought up in the RAF, so had travelled widely.
