Family Home
My father Leonard Barlow was born in the house on the left in 1921. He lived there with his mother Florence and family until he was conscripted into the Air Force at the beginning of the Second World War. I have traced members of the Barlow family living in the house for nearly a hundred years, going back to William Barlow and his wife Elizabeth in the 1870s. The house was demolished in the 1960s to make way for a road widening scheme.

RE: RE: Family Home
Hello Michael, My good friend Alan Bennet, his mum, dad and sister used to live on a house right on the opposite side of the road to you - do you ever remember them? I fondly recall the days when we would go back to his home to play with his Triang train set (which used to have smoke comming from a funnel in the engine). At an earlier time, just below, my father worked as a mechanic in what I believe was called the 'tan yard'(was it, at some time earlier, connected with this business?) -this must have been just after the Second World War. I also recall there were many stories of tunnels from St Mary's churchyard above. I still visit the church (and Little Drayton) each time I come to stay with my mother (who still lives in Shropshire -Shrewsbury). Best wishes, Allen Warrender.

RE: RE: Family Home
It is so sad to see that such a lovely building has been demolished.
There were VANDALS on the council who let that happen.
The same with the Grammar School I went to & loved.
It was an absolute SIN to knock that down.
Ah, well, that's progress...is it?
