Growing up in Market Drayton
My memories of Market Drayton swimming baths when I was young are wonderful ones. During the summer holidays I spent all my time swimming and i also worked in the cafe. I was about 11 years old. In those days summer was hot and long. My two best friends were Vivienne and Gillian Fowler and we took part in the carnival as The Black And White Minstrels and The White Heather Club - our float won both times!

RE: RE: Growing up in Market Drayton
I have discovered that my great-grandmother was the housekeeper at Betton Hall in 1897, her name was Priscilla Jones and she married a Thomas Morrey. Doees anyone have any information on either of these people or on Betton Hall at this time? Priscilla and Thomas were married in Moreton Say.

Hello Sheila, I wouldn't be indelicate and ask your age, but I think we both remember Market Drayton of a different era - things were so innocent then. My sister and I spent all our summer holidays at the baths - from sunrise to sunset - we were a lot poorer then (financially) but much, much richer in quality of life than many of today's youngsters. Those innocent times, now long ago, seem like a different life. Allen Warrender.
