F. E. Rogers of Middlewich
Does anybody have any information on Mr. & Mrs. F. E. Rogers who lived at the "Culver House" in Middlewich? I believe (but could be mistaken) they lived there during the 1930s through the 1960s. I have an old book that was once given to Mrs. Rogers by a friend named "Jessie" or maybe "Tessie". The birthday card that was inside the book mentions a bookstore in Crewe. I live in Texas & purchased the book in a town on the Mexican border in 1974. Would love to solve the mystery of how the book made that trip! Please contact me at deae@consolidated.net with any information on this couple. Maybe if I had their dates of death, I could order an obituary from a local newspaper. I believe Mrs. Rogers died in Crewe about 20 years ago. Thank you very much. Diane Ethridge

My Memories
I lived here on the Grange Estate from 1964 to 1968 and attended Meadowbank primary and Winsford high school before moving to Australia 40yrs ago. The photos I see bring back lots of good times for me. I will write other memories after confirmation of this letter. I am sure readers of this website would be very pleased and amazed. Thank you.

Queens Hotel
My mother and father Vera and Fred Groves took over the Queens Hotel when I was a youg boy (BORN 1957). I remember the circus coming in the adjacent field. One day our dog Jip took ME for a walk down to the Flash reservoir much to the panic of my mum. Till she saw the image of me being lead down the road by Jip, briging me home! I recall pedalling around the hotel in my yellow jeep (with working lights!) and around the car park on the front, and one day falling down the stairs. Mum told me how the pianist used to drive a Bentley. My memories are few because I was so very young, but Dad died in 1979 and mum more recently 25 March this year.

Oliver Benson Family Moves to Canada 1925
My grandfather and grandmother, Oliver and Florence (Walton) Benson, along with their 9 children (Iris, Oliver, Minnie, Sarah, Philip- then 11yrs of age, Constance, Thomas, Gilbert and Florence - all who have since passed away), headed off to Canada in 1925 to live in the province of Saskatchewan. They left Holmes Chapel but my father, Philip, would recount to us his memories of his home in England. He spoke of being a choir boy in the Anglican Church in Holmes Chapel, of his mother going to Sandbach market to buy goods, of the spring daffodils, of his mother's brother being killed in WWI. He spoke of Holmes Chapel with great affection and even though I have never visited, it is in my heart also. My father was able to go back while with the Canadian Army during WWII and later had taken my mother back with him to visit. Perhaps one day my husband and I too, shall take a trip.....
Kipper Will Soon be Home From Work
I was born at No. 3 Church Street in 1950. There are so many good times to recall. Where to begin? It is difficult to place them in any sort of logical order. I just guessed the year of 1961 but it was around this time.
Perhaps I should just ramble on and someone else will be able to fill in the gaps and errors.
Do you remember the Church and the Reverend Hale. He was a lovely man with the patience of a saint. He ran the church choir, cubs, scouts and festival.
Do you remember Reggie Wilson's Shop, Florie Buckley's Shop, Browns Post Office, Stan Lawton's Barbers, The chippy next door?, The Sunday League Football Team?
Fishing on the River Weaver and Shaft Pit?
But most of all playing football on the 'Rec' all day during the holidays. Probably 20 a side with kids from 5 to 15 years. We played all day everyday dawn till dusk.

Growing up in Moulton
I was born at my nan and grandad's house 11 Wilson Drive, and lived in Lawrence Avenue then Weaver Road and eventually 1 Barlow Road, where my parents have lived for 50 years. My memories are playing marbles on the corner of Barlow Road, and skipping, we were out all day, then Miss Leak would come round and sing a hymn on the corner, she frightened us sometimes because she was always dressed in black. The paper shop was another fond memory because Reggie used to make the best ice lollies, the Calypsos were great as well. Then when Freda's shop was open in Regent Street and you went in for boiled ham, she would always have a piece when she was weighing it, haha. I could go on and on. I live in Alberta in Canada but go back home to Moulton with my husband who comes from Weaverham for at least 3 months evey year.
