Hi there I went to the boys school of western road in the years you spoke about I was a blonde hair boy in short trousers and that caught the attention of the school bullies in my class, the Smith brothers and their leader Kieth Hall wherever he is I'd love to tell him I survived his torment and I live a happy life in Norfolk but I'd like to know what happened to all the other lads of western Road class 1b to 4x. Though I still have a soft spot for the mitcham I knew.
Hi David I know exactly who you mean .I remember Keith Hall being a vicious little ----.I think he lived around De'arn gardens off Love Lane. I lived in Seaton Road where Smith brothers lived but not sure if same ones.I now live in Dorset but have some lovely memories of Mitcham.Have been trying to contact 2 school friends that lived in Glebe Court but no success as yet
I went to Western Road School in 1948, Mr Houghton was the Art teacher and he was the best I'd ever seen. Mr Otterway was other teacher I liked ,he saw a Webley Air Gun I had ,liked it and bought one himself. I was good a running and was in the sport team 3 years running. Mr Dubert was headmaster and what a great man he was, when he said he was leaving there was a huge outcry, I was given the job of illustrating the walls in one of the class rooms.. Good old days
Hi David, I was at Western Rd 54 to 58 and remember the teachers you mention. Head master was Humphries and then Kenyon who I think came from Singlegate. Mr Dubert was head at Bond Rd where I went before Western.
Hi David I lived in Rodney Road and remember you, your dad was called Tommy he used to feed us raw onion vinegar and sugar to ward off colds in the winter, you had sister Carole and Jeanette regards Bobbie
