I've just done a bit of checking and I realise that the 'tired' man must have crashed here a few years later; about the time that he was not only an MP, but also a mayor. No wonder he was 'tired'.
About the time that this photo was taken the fence on the left hand side of the road was demolished in the middle of the night. An obviously tired local Member of Parliament, for the adjoining constituency, had fallen asleep at the wheel. My parents helped him out. Fortunately he was not badly hurt.
