Looking For Memories of Lines Bros. Factory / IMA

Dear visitors,
I am looking for persons who remember the Lines Bros. factory located in Morden, especially the period between 1935-50. International Model Aircraft was part of this factory, producing FROG modelaircraft: flying models and plastic modelkits called "Penguin".
I am writing a book on the history of these "Penguin" model kits and would like to get in touch with anyone who worked in this part of the factory, childhood memories, photos, etc.
Any information is HIGHLY appreciated!

Kind regards,
Peter van Lune

RE: RE: Looking For Memories of Lines Bros. Factory / IMA

Hi Peter, re: memories of Lines Bros (Merton) Ltd - I worked there from 1960 to 1965 in the Buying office of 'Triang' toys and 'Pedigree' prams. Unfortunately I have no recollection of IMA they must have been in another portion of the vast complex that was Merton works. We did have our own railway siding which we had a lot of our heavy goods delivered. Happy days. Regret their demise. like most of our industries the toy making was 'exported' to Germany and Japan (not China, then!) If anybody wants to know anything more about Lines Bros - please let me know. Dear Tony - thanks for the response. From an aerial photo of the Lines Bors factory I can see that it was very large... Unfortunately I am looking for information about a period that was well before the time you worked at LB, 1935-50...
Kind regards,

My father used to work at Lines from 1948 till the early 50's, but he passed away ten years ago so can't really help, but I do remember him bringing home toys for me to test. One was a Jaberwocky which I loved but had to give back, he also gave me models to construct but it was such a long time ago I can't remember what models they were, except for a railway carriage {which I kept}. Next time I see my sister who is older than me, she might have more information. Best wishes John.

Thank you John Michael for your response - I guess your father must have worked at Hornby? Seems like you were a young test-person!?! Children are honest about what they like or dislike... Thanks, will await further responses.
Kind regards,
Peter van Lune
