My Ancestors
My ancestors go back in a strong line to Eaugate: first ref. is to Thomas BRADFORD in 1811 (born) m. Anne Draper from GEDNEY. One son JOHN was my grandmother's father, she was Mary-Ann, b 1878, a preacher's daughter, but 'low' church? Later, her nephew, Joseph Bradford, preached at the 'PLOUGH INN' in ?.. St John's in the 1950s. I'm fascinated by the fact that the Pilgrim Fathers who left Lincolnshire to found Plymouth colony in the U.S.A were part of a strong prayer group in the area, the Colony Governor was a Mr Bradford. I visited Moulton for the first time in September 2009 and want to be back! Polly (my gran) married Jos Sanderson, Crowland then Nottingham & Eye, Cambs. Any help available? (I live in France). Thank you.
Lincolnshire memories
Judge Family
My maternal Grandmother was Susannah Judge. She was of a fairly large family, I remember sister's names Mary, Ada and Rebecca. Mary, I think, went to live in london, Ada married Jim Gubby & lived in Barnwell Northants and Auntie Bec moved to Heywood in Gtr Manchester as did my Grandma. I remember Grandma telling me that after morning service the Vicar would dine for lunch with the judge & jury!!
The Hunt Family Cowbit
I have a silver brooch presented to "Bro" AQ. Hunt, Cowbit Branch by the National Union of Agricultural Workers, probably 1930s or earlier. I acquired it from a market stall in Bury St Edmunds many years ago and I would love Mr A. Hunt's relatives to have it. My email is daveb3391@msn.com David Blackford Isle of Wight
Gedney Hill Chapel 1804
I don't have a memory to share but hope that someone can help me with my family history search. My ancestor Thomas Dams (Dames) married Sarah Leatherland 27 Aug 1804, Holbeach, Lincs. Banns published 2 Aug 1804 - both of this Parish. (recorded as DAMES) - Gedney Hill Chapel / Minister John Dinham in presence of William Norman).
Can someone help me please. Does this chapel still exist or is it now called something else - perhaps Holy Trinity? I need to search Parish Records for a record of the marriage.
I live in South Wales otherwise I would be able to visit and check for myself.
Thanks for any help.
William Foster
I have no memories of Gedney Hill but am searching for a William Foster who I know lived there at least between 1871 and 1901 - after this I lose him. He was born in 1841 in Parson Drove Cambridgeshire and was married to Elizabeth. Hope someone can help.
