DALBY'S HOTEL
I am trying to find the building which was Dalby's Hotel. In the 1881 census Thomas Ramshaw Dalby and his wife Susannah were the proprietors of this hotel. The address in 1881 was Main Street, south side, Boston Spa. Does anyone have any knowledge of the Dalby's hotel - is the building still there but under another name eg Royal Hotel or Crown Hotel. Any information would be gratefully received.

Mill in Flames
As a small boy around 1945/1947 walking home from Wetherby Church School I remember one day watching from the bridge as the mill was engulfed in flames and burning down. I wonder if anyone can provide the exact date or has a similar memory. I don't have any other memories of these schooldays other than sometimes being treated to a sticky bun from a small bakery just above the bridge. I was probably eating this whilst watching the flames. Having to walk home a mile or so down the Great North Road I remember seeing the Tanks and also special RAF lorries carrying Aircraft fuselage and wings. In fact because of the danger from this traffic we walked behind the safety of the park wall.
The School Bus Stop
I was 11 years old in 1965 and had moved to Wetherby in 1963. I walked around Bernards store several times. The shop across the side street from Bernards Store was a small Newsagent. The lampost in front of it was the pick up point for Tadcaster Grammar School pupils school bus. When this photograph was taken I was a pupil at Wetherby High School, but from 1970 I went to Tadcaster Grammar School and was picked up from this point by the school bus at about 8:20 every morning. The white building just beyond the newsagent was a fish and chip shop if I remember correctly and the building beyond that was the Post Office.

I lived with my nana and grandad. Graham and Karolyn Turner. I lived next door to the Ramsden family. Also i lived with my two annoying brothers Luke and Liam Dean. I had quite a lot of friends like Hal Ramsden and Chris Simson. I had lived there the past two years and enjoyed my time there a lot. Until I had to move in 2006. I went to Tadcaster Grammar Schoo and loved it there my best friends were Joel Dixon, James Hutchings, Lewis Jones, Simon Jowett and Charlie K Wray. Ancestor Request
This may seem morbid, but my wife's brother died in infacny, in Ulleskelf. He was born in 1951, and died, tragically, on Boxing Day, 1954. We are desperate to find his burial place, in order that we may visit. His name was Leonard Ainsworth. His father was Basil Ainsworth, who was in the R.A.F., based locally in Church Fenton. Builders Yard
The year 1977 onwards we lived in Barwick, we were called Fletcher and related to the Kirks who were builders on Potterton Lane. My grandma lived next door opposite the churchyard. My mother Betty was a Kirk. We played footy on Carrfield Road, had friends called Richard Warrington, Martin Coates, Andrea Mouncey, Martyn Fletcher and me, aka Darren. Went to Barwick junior and infants school, Mr Naylor was headmaster. Does anybody else recall these memories? Please post.
Flag Day at School
I was one of 7 children that lived at Tile House, Bolton Lodge. I attended Bolton Percy C of E Primary School. I am not quite sure what this flag day event was for, but I remember it was always a sunny day, so it must have been in the summer. All the children used to go into the playground and wave flags as a parade of people went by. I can remember some were in wheelchairs and I am sure this happened every year. It was a very special day that stays in my memory, but I can't remember what the parade was for (it can't have been a rememberence for the war because it was summer time, not November), does anyone else remember this event? Or does anyone else have any other memories of Bolton Percy? I would love to know.
