Ormston

My dad John lived in Broomhill and married my mother Evelyn Crackett from Amble in 1947. I don't now anything about my dad's family other than his mother who's name i don't know died in1958 and he had a sister, Mary Stewart, still living in Broomhill in the 1970s. My dad also worked in the coal mine until he left to take up a job in the steel works in South Wales in 1955. I spent many a happy childhood holiday in Amble at my Grannies house in Church Street. Iwould love to hear from anyone who knew either of these families.

RE: RE: Ormston

Hi Maureen
I knew your aunt Mary she is the mother of my best friend Angie (Stewart) she was married to Bill Stewart and I knew the family well having grown up in the street where we all lived. Unfortunately both Mary and Bill are dead now and buried in the church yard of St John the divine at south broomhill. Your grandmother Ormston is buried there too. If I can help you with anything get in touch
Best wishes
Janette

RE: RE: Ormston

Such a shame not to hear from Janette. I have researched my granparents a little more and had a photo of my grannie's gravestone sent to me but no info on my dad's dad. Not sure what happened to my grannie's first husband Thomas Gray either. I will have to make a visit up north soon as there are still a lot of missing links in my family tree which I have been putting together for my grandchildren.
