St Vincent School
I left the above school in 1968 to start work. Does anyone remember Mr Mills the PE teacher? Happy day. Bye the way, I lived in Doncaster Gardens and my brother John and sister Sandra who also went to this school to.
Plumpton Close
My grandparents Jack and Beral Storey lived at 8 Plumpton Close with their kids Ricky, Stevie, Sharon and Darrell. My dad was Stevie who sadly passed away in 1980. I spent every weekend at my nan's and have great memories like going to bingo at the working mans club round the corner where my grandad Jack would call the numbers, going round the cabin to get my aunty Sharon Embassy no.6 with a 50p wrapped up in a note and I'd get a load of 1p sweets as a pay off hahaha, playing Footy down the end of the road in the playing field but having to jump over the fence first or playing tennis down at the green garages at the bottom of Plumpton Close. Every Saturday was shopping day down at South Harrow with Nan and she would always buy me a toy, bless her heart. I remember the Wilkinsons and Dennis who would always work on his cars in his garage. I also remember they had a... Read more
Convalescent Home Northolt 1950s
In 1955 when I was two year old I had TB and I stayed at a large house in Northolt. Does anybody know anything about this place at all or have any photos please? Being so young my memory of it is practically nil. Thank you. Lynne
Northolt Memories
I was born at Perivale hospital in 1964 and grew up in Carr Road. I am one of the Tweedy family that Toni mentioned .....Hi Toni (keep in touch). I lived there with my parents Dora and Andrew, both now 81 years young.... and living in Gloucester. I also have 2 sisters Ann and Gillian who both went to Ealing Grammar, I wasn't that clever and went to Northolt High from 1976 - 1980. I remember from Carr Road the Reynolds family, Maureen, Eric, Lee and Paula, I am still in touch with them. The Roberts family Ena, Mick, Keith and Steven, still in touch with them. I also remember the Willis family and around the corner in Oriel Way was the Jones family, Maureen, Bryan Sharon, Jeff and Paul. Still see them. My grandparents lived in Goneville Crescent. I have photos somewhere of the Load of Hay public house. I also remember the Moore family at the top of Carr Road and the Whitehead family. My cousin also... Read more
School Days
I used to go to Vincent Secondary and lived in Haydock Avenue, and would like to hear from anyone that used to go there in the 1960s.
Race Course
We lived at 45 Ribblesdale Avenue, right opposite Northolt Park Racecourse, from about 1932 to 1936 and as a lad I can remember my two elder sisters going to the Load of Hay opposite the main entrance where they struck up friendships with some of the jockies who in turn used to take my small sister and me to the stables in Eastcote Lane and let us sit on the ponies. Our family remained friends with them until they passed away. Ttwo I remember were a Larry Goodman who lived in Uxbridge and a Billy Fuller who was in Kensington. Last thing left were the gates at the top of Petts Hill but I think that they are now gone. The sweet shop at the bottom of our road was always a place we kids liked. I would love to hear from anyone still with us who lived in Ribblesdale.
1950-1967
I was a 5 year old when we moved into the new housing estate in Northolt, we lived at 31 Rushdene Crescent. Then always it seamed that we had long hot summer holidays, playing in the woods, or in the sand pit (ex army firing range) or over to the sunken barge. Around us lived an great assortment of people, the Bridgmans, the Cooks, (Brenda was the first girl I kissed), Eileen Thatcher, John Gavin, David Lambert, Eric & Raymond Collins, and so many more,. All the kids were young and most were in families of 3 or 4, a few only had one or two kids. My father was about the first person on that estate to by a TV, we had about 2 hours of TV a day and a very small 9" screen, but many of the kids used to come to watch TV at our house as it was very new to them. We saw the corronation of the Queen on TV ,not so many poeple... Read more
