The Water Cress Beds
My relatives ran the water cress beds (do they still exist?) & I clearly recall there house had a small pond outside, & I used to watch sand flees jumping when I poked them. The day I rememember most vividly was the day a worker shot his mad? dog! My relatives had a blind dog that knew every plank over every water bed, and the next year we went his dog had drowned as a worker had moved a plank, the dog fell in & drowned!. But most of all I recall the friendly relatives and the teas we had with yummy cakes to satisfy a hungry boy. But who were they, that I shall probably never know.

RE: RE: The Water Cress Beds
I have so many lovely memories of staying in Broadford Bridge as a child. My aunt and uncle owned Horlands Cottage and they had a model railway track in the back garden round the apple trees. We used to ride on this train in the summer and get stung by the wasps. A lady who had the Post Office at the time taught my sister and I to knit and we have kept up this skill to this day. We are both now in our 60s. We used to attend the little Catholic church just outside the village, which had a tin roof and sounded really loud when it rained. I tried to find Horlands Cottage last summer when I was in the area and spent about an hour looking around the area but was unsuccessful. I will try again soon, and will visit Broadford Bridge and go down memory lane. Look after this lovely hamlet and keep it as it is. Rita
