My great great grandfather was Richard Thurston and I believe that his family lived at the pub about 1845.
They had several children Deborah,John Palmer,Mary Jane,Richard and William Mumford (thurston) His wife was Susannah.
John Palmer Thurston was my great grandfather.
My grandfather William John Thurston emigrated to Australia in 1910 with his wife Agnes Alice Thurston(nee Stillwell) from Sussex.

My maternal grand father was William John Thurston whose Grand father was Richard Thurston of Old Newton.

I am sure we are related!!!

Do you know any other information concerning the family??

My name is Brian Thurston WALLIS and I live on Mount Tamborine in Queensland,Australia.

My grandfather (william)was the publican of a pub in Sydney named "The Warren View" for a number of years and then he opened a wholesale/retail Grocer business which was very successful.

My mother 'May Alice Thurston(Wallis) was William And Agnes's only Child and she lived to the age of 91.I to am an only child.My wife of 36 years Catherine Margaret (Kate) and I have 3 male children named Drew Alexander,Blake Michael and Simon Christopher.

I would like to know more information. My name is Julian Hill, and I am the grandson of Raymond Thurston, his family used to run the pub and moved to setup H G Thurston (opposite the pub). I would be extremely interested to hear more information.

I am Christine Hill, born in 1951 , daughter of Raymond and Marjorie Thurston and mother of Julian. My father born in 1922 at The Shoulder of Mutton was the son of Herbert George Thurston and Margaret Muriel Thurston (nee Finbow).My great grandfather was Richard Thurston who was the village wheelwright. Herbert Thurston became landlord of the Shoulder of Mutton in 1918 taking over from the Evans Family.

My grandfather William John Thurston was born on 9th July,1885 and his parents were John Palmer Thurston and Miriam Bertha Whatling who was born at Hartismere on 1st October,1851
