More about this scene

The area now called Ottershaw was once a royal hunting ground within Windsor Forest. Similar to other heathland villages nearby, it grew in the 19th century as nurserymen came and improved the soil and in turn provided employment for the villagers. The original Otter pub was opened in 1803; it was replaced in 1927 by the roadhouse-style inn that stands here to this day.

The shop attendant was so patient with each of us as we uh'med and ah'ed over ...see more
My first memory of Ottershaw was the big freeze in the early 50's when, with a friend's help, I built a snow wall across Bousley Rise near to the top of the hill just before our house "Lintons". My father James Daborn [Jim] was not best pleased at having to dig a way through on getting back from work. My mother [Marjorie Daborn] was a teacher at the primary school, then on the crossroads of Brox Road, Slade Road ...see more
My sister was baptised in Ottershaw Church on a bitterly cold day in early 1959!
