I was sent here,after frequent bouts of Asthma. My memories are mostly favourable. We used to make huts in the woods and I predictably, made the village pub. I achieved a swimming medal , got thrown out of the Cubs,for playing football with my woggle and remember being held up by my "Sideburns" for doing so. I was a 9 year old boarder at the Meath School for a year in 1981/1982. In those days the school was a state specialist convalescence school for respiratory diseases. I remember my time in Ottershaw fondly. Each week we'd all walk in a group to the nice sweet shop in the village so that we could spend our I think 30p pocket money. My first memory of Ottershaw was the big freeze in the early 50's when, with a friend's help, I built a snow wall across Bousley Rise near to the top of the hill just before our house "Lintons". My father James Daborn [Jim] was not best pleased at having to dig a way through on getting back from work. My sister was baptised in Ottershaw Church on a bitterly cold day in early 1959!
