About Albums

What are Albums?

Albums are a way to store a selection of photographs and other items (books, maps etc.) that interest you. This costs you nothing and makes ordering now or in the future much easier. As you browse the site save anything that interests you to an Album – you can have as many Albums as you like so sub-divide things if it is helpful.

What can I put in an Album?

Practically everything you see you the website can be gathered together in an Album - photographs, maps, books and memories of your favourite places. There is no limit to how many items you can store in any one Album, nor in the number of Albums you can create.

Why should I use Albums?

Your Albums will be stored for you behind the scenes, available for you to retrieve any time you re-visit the website. This is particularly important if you want to store a number of items for your personal history research or if you are building one of our Create-your-own Gifts (see next question below).

How do I use Albums for shopping?

Albums make shopping on the Frith site much easier - especially when you want to create personalised gift from Frith photographs - for example Jigsaws, Calendars and Multi-photo Prints. If you get interrupted or are unable to complete your purchase straight away, using Albums will mean your photographs will stored for you and you will not have to start all over again next time you visit us.

How do I create an Album?

To create an Album, choose "My Account" from the main menu and click on "My albums" to visit your Albums homepage. From here, click on "Create a new Album". Give your Album a name and a description (optional) and click "OK" to create your Album.

Look for the Add to Album icon

On the thumbnail page: look for the "Add to Album" icon next to each thumbnail-size photo.

Look for the Add to Album icon

On the photo preview page: look for the "Add to Album" icon underneath each photograph.

How do I add something to an Album?

To begin, use the search box at the top of the page or visit our search homepage to find and browse historic photos of your favourite UK cities, towns and villages.

Look out for the "Add to Album" icon - Add to Album - to add any photograph to an Album.

With photos now safely stored in your Album(s), choose the gift you want to create, arrange your photos into position and follow the simple wizard to confirm your choices. To find out more about using your photos in Jigsaws, Calendars and Multi-Photo Prints, click here.

What is a temporary Album?

A temporary Album is where you can temporarily store items for use in the short term, i.e. for your current visit with us on the website. To create a temporary Album you do not need to log in or register on the website. However when you navigate away from the website or don't use the website for more than 20 minutes, the items added to the temporary Album will be lost. For this reason, if you are gathering together a number of photographs for a Jigsaw, Calendar or Multi-photo Print, we recommend you log in or register, and create an Album or Albums against your Account. That way any photographs will be stored for you as long as you want.

Why do I have to register on the website to save Albums?

The Frith website is all about you reminiscing and reconnecting with your favourite UK towns and villages. So that you can make the most of Albums and the Frith website experience, we need to be able to match your favourite items against a login email address. Secured to your "Account" via your chosen password, you are then able to retrieve your Albums quickly and easily when you next visit us. There is nothing sinister going on when you register with us - it is simply that we need some key details in order to save your Searches, Albums, Memories and Wishlists for the next time you visit us. We will not sell or rent your email address.
