When I Was Growing up

I remember being very happy growing up as a child in Paisley. One of my happiest memories was being given a golliwog outfit from the Robertson's jam factory. A certain amount was given out every year at Halloween by the factory.
I used to enjoy the Library and Museum which I visited each week, and as I got older the visits became more frequent.
I remember thinking how vast Coat's Mill was and how lovely the river that ran past it looked - sadly the mill has now been renovated into flats.

I have a great fondness for Paisley though it is over 20 years since I have lived in the town. I know that some and perhaps many criticise the place and say its dirty and all the shops have gone that we used to know but still... it is my home and I have wonderful memories of the town. Growing up, exploring, getting lost, the Braes, St.Mirren, the Bull Inn, oh happy days.

I am pleased to see that the mill has been converted into flats and I hope that if we lose the other buildings in the town like Arnotts then they should also be housing. Lets not knock them down, we have done this to too many buildings

I visited Glasgow in the summer of 2007 and spent some time in Paisley. All the guidebooks recommend it but it's unfortunately not heavily promoted by the Tourist Board. I wish there were more photos of Paisley and other nearby villages circa 1900 and would love to hear more stories from that
