Lock Farm
My grandparents owned Lock Farm and I remember the adventures I had there exploring the house, and getting lost on the farm. I haven't been back to the area in many years, I know the house is still there and the farm was split up. My father loved the Green Man pub and we often had lunch there.... I wonder if anyone in the area remembers the Harvey family? Sally

Hi Sally, I'm Simon and I came across your post. I would just like to say my grandparents were in waiting to the Harvey family, my grandfather was the gamekeeper, I think they lived in the farm as well. My grandfather was Jim Adkins, my father tells me they threw great parties, I've heard great stories.

Hi Simon How nice to hear from you. I'm the youngest of the grandchildren and remember the last decade or so of Lock. Your grandparents lived in the old lock cottage if memory serves me. I have a photo of my grandmother and yours with the dog Pal standing outside Lock, I think it was taken in 1953 or so. I would love to hear your stories if you wouldn't mind sharing them. Regards Sally

RE: RE: Lock Farm
Hi Sally, just spoke to my parents and they said Pal was my grandfather's gun dog who unfortunately got killed by a stray bullet. My grandparents have passed on now along with my aunts Annette and June, it was always Annette's ambition to live back at Lock but she died quite young, she really loved the place. I do hear the stories about the Harvey family and I think it was Dorothy who married one of the Campbells, and Mr Harvey lending my parents a Rolls for their wedding day and a necklace. I also heard that my uncle Tony who was an antique dealer had a silver statue of bluebird which Dorothy wanted to buy back and that was the last contact. I recently looked on Internet for Mike Tomkiss, he did an article on my grandfather for Readers Digest, he is a very interesting man, he was a local man who went on to big things I read. Thanks for your interest, I'm sure when I next see my parents I will have many stories.

Hello again The necklace... I know the one, it is still worn by the brides in our family. Hhow lovely that your family wore it too. My mother's sister (Daphane) married Donald Campbell, she passed away about 9 years ago and my mother (Pat) passed away 7 years this May. How can we get in contact? I can send you some photos for your parents. Regards Sally

RE: RE: Lock Farm
Hi Sally, how this started out is quite strange. I typed in Harvey family and saw your post. I've spoken to Mum and Dad and they are shocked at what I've told them, from what I'm told, your family was held in very high esteem and I didn't realize you were a Harvey, in my upbringing all I ever heard was about Lock and grandad and the Harvey family. It's great knowing that dad and aunties as yourself must have enjoyed a wonderful childhood. I've just ordered 'My First Wicked Life' by Mike Tomkies for my dad as he speaks so highly of grandad in it, dad always spoke of Bardot and Mike's life, he sounds amazing, but it was the Harvey family they were so proud to be associated with. The necklace wasn't it was a diamond cross and mum left it on the bed during the ceremony and they panicked because they thought it had gone. Mum and dad and Adrian would love to hear from you and I'm sure you will have a few photos and stories to exchange, Adrian lost auntie Annette his mum at an early age, he will be made up when I tell him. Simon

Hi Sally, I've been away working so I'm sorry I haven't replied, I'm having trouble getting through to you but I will give you my Email, is it safe on here? Anyway, let me know what you think and then I will, I can't see that it would do any harm? I'm like you, not too savvy with all this. Simon.

Hi. I believe my great grandfather worked on Lock Estate, and I believe they lived there too. I also believe my dads uncle was friends with the Harveys. They were the "Knights".
