Clwyd memories
Ystrad Hall
I was a pupil at Ystrad Hall and would just like to say that in my time there I have some of the best memories of this lovely little town. I often wonder what became of Ystrad and many of my friends and of course staff members, many of whom were local. The Horseshoe Pass, the castle, fishing in the Dee, the Copper Kettle, I could go on. This is a really nice web site and I will be visiting it lots. Hope I hear from someone I know. All the best . Billy Crawford.
Ystrad Hall
I was a member of Ystrad Hall also - I don't remember you Billy Crawford, what year was you there? Llangollen was a great place, I believe there was a lot of child molesting going on that's why you don't hear much about this strange place - It turned out to be a cash cow for the likes of Dick and the Rat ...

Sandra Phillips
Whatever happened to my first real girlfriend (dare I say first love) Sandra Phillips from Glyndud? Sandy, I hope you are happy, healthy and that the world has treated you well.
Can Any One Tell Me?
Spent a while looking at Glyndyfrdwy on Google maps and came across 3 areas just below Glyndyfrdwy that look like very large limestone mounds. There appears to be derelict remnant of miners? houses by these rocks. The area looks fascinating and well worth a visit for photography!
Would be so grateful though if someone can cast a light on these limestone areas and their ruins. Whether they are old quarries or mining communities - - help please!
Growing up
As a kid growing up on "The Garth" I have memories of playing cowboys and indians in the woods around King William's Tower, (home made bows and arrows) and still living to tell the tale ;0) Being chased out of "Dai's Wood" on a regular basis. Crad the Garth (now there was a character!) I do remember sneaking over the back wall of The Rockmans's Arms, stealing empty bottles, and going around the front to trade the bottles for a bottle of lemonade or Vimto! I'm sure the landlord knew what was going on LOL. Helping the Blake boys at harvest time. Don't really know if we were a help or a hinderance.
Very few people had a car in those days, so the Garth bus was the main mode of transportation. Going to Cefn pictures was a huge adventure, but waiting on The Crane for the bus back when Monsanto was in full production was torture. Eyes and nose streaming... Read more
Trevor
I have many many fond memories of Trevor. I grew up there as a child but was moved away from there at the age of 11. I lived across the road from the community centre, No 45, Julie Roberts used to live next door and my best mate Vincent Blackmoore used to live 3 doors up.
Ah what can I say, so many good times, Trevor woods, the Canal woods and the Dee woods were all our hunting grounds. I remember being up a tree in the Canal woods once and all the cows came over to the fence, cows scared me at the time and it just so happened that the branch I was on was hanging over into the field, I never felt so scared in all my life.
Trevor woods were also a great battlefield for us kids, putting up bottles and cans and the like and pretending we were Clint Eastwood and throwing stones like a quick draw, we used to squint like the sun was... Read more
