My Courting Days

Common, The Memorial c1960
Enlarge photo |  More about this photo

I lived in Mountain Ash and my husband to be lived in Cardiff, we both used to travel on the bus to Pontypridd to meet up. From there we would walk up to the monument for a kiss and a cuddle. We spent many happy hours up here thinking of our future together. Some times it was so cold we could hardly walk back to the bus as we were frozen. Now 47 years later we sometimes travel to Merthyr and every time we pass the monument we have lovely memories.

RE: RE: My Courting Days

hello Joy,

Greeting from Toronto, Canada,
I was born in Ponryprdd but grew up in Tonyrefail and did my courting at around the same time as you and spent many frozen hours also. May you and your husband continue to pass by the monument in Ponti and have thousands more wonderful memories in the future, lynnewilliams24@rogers.com.

Hi Lynne. What a lovely suprise to find your comment today. We spent many hours freezing - what you do when you are young and in love!!  Today I am still in love but like my home comforts too much.
In March we celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary, which we are both looking forward to very much. When did you go to Toronto and why?
Thank you once again for your comments and good luck. Joy Lewis
