Swimming?
It was approximately 1960 that whilst bathing in the 'pool' as a child of about 3, I held onto the rail at the edge of the 'boardwalk' and became stuck as my legs were pulled underneath where the water poured in (not being strong enough to pull my legs back) and had to be rescued by another child. Scary!!

RE: RE: Swimming?
I was born in Cilfynydd in 1948. When I was 5 we moved to Luton Beds., but had regular visits back home. My cousin Barbara and all the family were regular visitors to the park and spent many happy hours in the pool. Barbara was a better swimmer than me and when we were older in the 60s we were to spend many happy days there. I was in Ponty a couple of years ago and they were talking of making it a car park for the town! I hope not.

RE: RE: Swimming?
In the early 1970s I also had my leg trapped in the metal grids when holding onto the pipe going along the board walk, it scared the hell out of me as a young kid and I wouldn't go in a swimming pool for years after that experience. I wasn't only one to suffer I see - and they had the sense to remove it from the pool.
