Beaconsfield Street

I went to primary school in Beacoonsfield Street from 1952-1959. I have a very hazy memory of a street party in the street for the coronation. I remember white cups and saucers, a large teapot with an extra handle on the front, sandwiches and cakes. I remember tables down the street and me sitting on a bench at the table. I remember bunting in the windows. Does anyone else remember this? My best friend was Jean Finney who lived at the bottom of the street parallel with Beaconsfield Street. Her back gate opened out into Albert Street where I lived. My grandparents were Eva and Bill Harrison and my mum was Annie Harrison.

RE: RE: Beaconsfield Street

I remember Jean Finney too, I wonder is she still with us? I lived at 28 Beaconsfield St. A Mrs Harrison was caretaker at the primary school in the street, was she your relative? I was Irene Clough then. I wonder if we knew each other?

RE: RE: Beaconsfield Street

The Mrs Harrison who was caretaker wasn't my grandma. My grandma worked in the laundry. I was 11 in 1959 when I left Prescot. I was in the first year of the girls' grammar school. Jean Finney went to the Catholic school. I also had a friend called Carol Fisher. I don't remember you, Irene. I remember some other children in Beaconsfield Street. There was a Judith Pemberton who lived opposite the school and a brother and sister a bit lower down called Brian and Beryl. My grandma had some neighbours called Parry who lived next door to the school (upwards), they had grown up daughters called Joan and Sheila. We went to Joan's 21st birthday party at the Parish Rooms which was on the street near the laundry. Do you remember any of the teachers at the school?
