PYRFORD HOSPITAL
I well remember Rowley Bristow Hospital as I became a patient in Rudolf Ward (under Sister Morris of Byfleet) the day before I was due to sit my O levels in June 1956. Fortunately, I was allowed to sit them in hospital and each day I was wheeled into a small room, between the two rooms that made up Rudolf Ward, to take them. I spent some 5 weeks there and the experience made me realise how very fortunate I was insofar as I did not have to have an operation and lose any of my limbs as did some of the other patients. The patient care there was exceptional with splendid nursing care under a matron who was a legend. Happy days!!

RE: RE: PYRFORD HOSPITAL
I spent 6 months at Rowley Bristow Hospital 1957-58. It was in Rudolph Ward, run by Sister Morris. Most of the nurses were very young, only a couple of years older than myself (16) so we had a lot of fun! I can remember Dot Popple, Jill Bloss, Magaret Langdon, Iwonder where they are now. Miss Blauxo was head physio, I remember her little Morris Minor. She would come up behind you in the corridor and shout "Head up, Shoulders back". You forgot you were there for treatment, especially when you got down the road to the pub at dinner time! I could go on forever about that place. I went back a couplle of years ago but it had sadly gone. Like Alan Fairlie said, happy days.

I spent some four months here on Rudolph Ward - Sept 2nd 1960. I remember Sister Gladys Morris, Mrs Gee, Nurses; Jill Shannon, Janet Dwelly, Susie Young, Caroline Bussey, Deidre Meakins, and the man who saved my leg - the famous surgeon, Dr Anthony Apley. How different hospitals are today - all about the money!
