The church, mainly of the 14th century, stands within a grassy churchyard, close to the A6 Leicester-Loughborough Road. It is faced in hard, local Mountsorrel granite, with alterations and the addition of a north aisle by William Parsons in 1842 (see St Mary's, Bitteswell). The south aisle or Farnham Chapel contains monuments of interest, particularly one to John Farnham of Quorn Hall attributed to Epiphanius Evesham (1570-c1633), whose superb talent should have ensured his fame into the 21st century. Another example of his work is a monument to Lord Norris (1601) in Westminster Abbey and a lovely monument to Sir Thomas Hawkins in 1618 at Boughton-under-

My lasting memory of the Bulls Head is when my husband, Bob, and I spent the first night of our honeymoon there. It was a charming place and very comfortable. I will never forget going into the lovely dining room for breakfast the next morning to see with a whole wall of glass windows from ceiling to floor, daffodils on the beautifully set dining tables, complete with silver cutlery, and the sun streaming into the room. ...see more
