My Early Childhood Years
My grandfather worked at Murex down by the river and I loved being able to pick him up from work on the odd occassion with my late Mum, Dad and younger sister as we would be allowed to see any boats passing. I still love the sight of water ways today and I am nearly 50 years of age, I adore the River Thames and the homely boats on its water in London that I see on my journeys with National Express. Memories are so precious and I am glad we all have them! Rainham will always hold my roots even though I live many miles away now since I married in 1980.

RE: RE: My Early Childhood Years
I remember Murex very well, I lived in Sunningdale Avenue where Murex had a beautiful big sports ground in the 1950s and 1960s. As a school boy, me and my friends spent a lot of time down Ferry Lane which I think the road was called that went down to Murex. In the summer holidays we would play on the marshes, making rafts and go down to the Thames and climb on the concrete barges. I think there were rifle ranges down on the marshes where we would look for cartridges. It was a real adventure riding our bikes down to Murek as kids. Happy memories of Rainhah, that's all I have. I now live in Australia but this year I'm going to England for a holiday and might call and say G'day. Dennis Nurden.
