Magna Carta Island c1880

I have several photographs of the house on Magna Carta Island taken during the 1910s and early 1920s. The house was owned by my grandfather during this period, John Francis Mc Gregor (a stockbroker) who was married to my grandmother, Maidie Scott  (her 'stage name', she was a music hall performer).
The photos are of my grandmother and my mother with her twin brother playing in the garden. They were born whilst my grandparents owned the house. My grandparents divorced in 1924 and my grandfather sold the house in 1927. My grandmother emigrated to South Africa and I and my siblings were all born here. I have visited the house once in 1996.

RE: RE: Magna Carta Island

Hi,

I have found out that Maidie Scott was my Grandad's Aunty. My Grandad (Christopher Pim - known as Jack and John for some reason) recently passed away and everybody got talking about the family who were from Manchester and a story arose how Madie adored my cheeky Grandad and once nearly took him away with her. Later on we knew she moved to South Africa but I dont know any more. If you have any more info I would love to know.

Many thanks

RE: RE: Magna Carta Island

I am a great admirer of Maidie Scott . Her life story is not in the public domain and I feel that is the way she wanted it to be. I have been doing my own research into her life and career and have learnt a lot. It would be a privilege to make contact with any of Maidie's descendants. robin.hatt@yahoo.co.uk
