Can Anyone Help?
I live in America and recently discovered some letters written by a seventeen year old girl from your area in Wales back in 1937-38. She and my late mother were pen pals, and corresponded frequently. The girl's name was Elvina, born October 5, 1920. I have no last name. The return address on the letters is: Graig Road, Trebanos, Swansea. I even have a lovely photo of her on holiday in Pleasure Park, Barry Island, Glam! I would love to communicate either with Elvina or her descendants and return these letters and picture. Thank you!
Abergwenlais
I was brought up on Abergwenlais Farm and went to Pontlliw Infants School.
My family lived in Pontlliw for several generations.
The Woodbine
I was born and brought up at "The Woodbine" which was next door to Peniel Chapel. Living in Pontlliw was such a great experience but sadly I have not been back in many many years. Would love to see some more old photgraphs of the village.
Edward Thomas Evans (born 1923ish)
Dear friends, my mother-in-law, Joan, was once engaged to Eddie Evans whose family lived up and over a hill near Rhydyfro in the 1940s. His father was a farmer and he had a sister called Marion. Does anyone know anything about Eddie? Is he still with us? Joan would love to know what happened to him. She is coming up to 83 and has fond memories that she would like to update. Please try to help me to help her.
With anticipation and kind regards,
Sue
Decendants of The Reeves or Phillips Family of Swansea
Does anyone have knowledge of Richard J Reeves born 1877 and sisters Mary Elizabeth born 1878 and Matilda born1880 at Swansea? Their father was Albert George Reeves and their mother was Elizabeth Peters. Are you a relative of theirs? I am doing my family tree and have hit a wall with the above names. I am also looking for decendants of George Phillips born 1862 at Swansea, he married Mary Elizabeth Reeves and had 16 children all together, my grandmother Elizabeth (Lizzie) born in Swansea in Dec. 1900 was one of the children along with Gillbert, Albert Owen, Ernest George,Alexander, Florence Annie, Edith May and many more. My gran Lizzie married Pasquale Simeone in 1922 and lived in Neath and Pontardawe.
Treboeth
Does anyone remember Bryn Row in Treboeth, Swansea? I was born there just after the Second World War. My parents were Tom and Lily Evans, my brother Len was 12 when I was born. We moved to Penlan in about 1948. I have a vague memory that the cottages were halfway up the hill from Brynhyfryd Square. I have been trying to find a photo but no luck so far.
