Good Old Days In Gateshead.
A Memory of Salford.
I was born in 1943 in Bensham hospital and lived on Rectory rd for the first 5yrs,we then moved to Saltwell rd and i lived there till I left at 21;those years to me were my happiest, days spent in Saltwell Park.
I went to Kelvin grv school, then on to Gateshead High school Church rd my mother felt a private school would benefit me;it did not;in those days Gateshead to me was great,on Satuerday we went to the Odeon cinema club in the morning, the Coatsworth after lunch and possibly the paladium saltwell rd in the evening,we had no fancy gadgets and we were never bored.
I would love to hear from anyone who lived at the cemetery end of saltwell rd,or in maxwell street in the 40'50's.
