The Rock.
I was a resident of St Boniface Home, Sampford Peverell, from 1943 to 1946. Our Scout and Cubscout group used 'the Rock' (although we had a different name for it) for many of our scouting activities. The large mound to the west was ideal for semaphore practice and due to a large population of rabbits was referred to as 'Connie Warren'. Many proficiency badge tests were passed using the Rock as a base camp. Perhaps someone can recall its alternative name.

RE: RE: The Rock.
My father was a resident of St. Boniface School for boys, sent there on his 7th Birthday, in February 1945. His name was Henry Michael Nosworthy, probably known as Mick or Michael. He was with his brothers Robert (Bob) and James (Jim) - Does anyone remembers him.
Also, there seems to be very little information about the boys home in Sampford, can anyone share more light on the years 1945 to 1952 - A name my father mentioned was John Parrish!
Thanks

RE: RE: The Rock.
My name is Michael Nosworthy I was at St Boniface home from Feb 1945 - Oct 1948. My brother James was there as well. The gaffer was Mr Bishop, I don't have many good memories of my stay at St Boniface. I can only remember it as a very strict regime, but some comments I have had from 2 ex St Boniface boys are quite the opposite, Boy Scouts - picnics - seaside trips etc. The scout hut in the corner of the grounds was always locked, in all the years I was there that's how it stayed. If anyone can enlighten me as to how I saw a different view of the home I would like to hear from them, bearing in mind we are all getting old now, I'm 73. Here's hoping. nosmick@sky.com
