RAF Scorton
Stationed at RAF Scorton in the little medical facility which was reached by passing through a farm (I believe). My memory is not good as a result of a stroke. We were lucky to have our own hot water supply as the majority of the camp sites had only cold water. Looking at recent maps, I get the impression that the medical facility is still standing and now presumably used for other purposes.

RE: RE: RAF Scorton
I was posted to RAF Scorton from RAF Acaster Malbis near York. It was either late 1949 or early 1950, I was not there very long as I was demobbed in April 1950. I was billeted in the Station Sick Quarters as I was a Medical Orderly, having completed a Medical Course at RAF Morton in Marsh which was in the Cotswolds. We did not have a Medical Officer at Scorton, so we had to take those reporting sick to RAF Catterick where they had a MO. Catterick was a few miles down the road from Scorton, it was the RAF Regiment training camp at the time. I remember one day while about to take the Sick Parade to Catterick I was not feeling to good myself, so I took my own temperature, it was 104, so I added my own name to the sick list and when I got to Catterick the MO attended to me first and straight away I was in bed in one of the wards for week or so. After I had a week's sick leave, it was off to South Wales where I am living now. The other things I remember about Scorton was going into Darlington for a day out and of course Richmond. I went from Scorton in April 1950 to get demobbed at a camp near Blackpool. Days of my life in the RAF I will never forget. John Griffin. Feb. 2011.
