My Family at the Seaside
The people sitting on the seat in the foreground of this photo are actually my grandparents and aunt, visiting - as they regularly did - from their home in Annfield Plain, Co Durham. This photo was taken a couple of years before I was born and also before my parents were married. Sadly they are no longer alive, but little did they know they had been snapped for posterity!

A native of Tynemouth in exile.
I was born in Tynemouth, in Percy Park, the road leading down to the sea by the Grand Hotel. In 1956, I began at Tynemouth Prep. School, now The Kings School, in Huntington Place. I live in Hampshire now, but, I have been back to Tynemouth several times and have always been delighted that so little has changed. Long may it remain so. I am Tony Brown.

The ambulance
Hello, my name is Colin Cochrane and I used to live at 103 Bewicke Rd with my parents Alec and Anne, and my brother and sister John and Andrea. Like most kids in this area I suffered from asthma and one night I had a bad attack and an ambulance was called. I was put in the back gasping for air and as it drove off a door fell off and I burst out laughing, clearing my airways so didn't have to go to hospital. I now live in Germany with my wife and 2 grown up children.
