This floating school set up by the Royal Navy had trained hundreds of ships' crew from all over the world. In 1962 this famous instruction base was visited by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh. In more recent years the Royal Navy decided to pull out of the area, which is now dominated by Europe's largest shopping mall, Bluewater.

Cadet On Worcseter

I was a cadet from 55 to 59 in Main Division. Went back recently, not a ship on the river and a huge bridge upstream

Hms Worcester & F T Everard & Sons Ltd

I came to know Greenhithe very well. Firstly as a cadet on the Worcester from 1962 to 1965, and again from 1972 to 1979 when I was employed by Everards. Looking at Google maps of Greenhithe, the place has changed beyond recognition.

Hms 'worcester' C1950 And 1968

My father, Nick Child, was a cadet on the 'Worcester' circa 1950-52. He took me aboard in 1968 - fascinating ship, it's a shame she is still not there ...
