Stories of North Creake A memory of North Creake, Norfolk My grandfather, John Arnett, was the teacher at the North Creake school for many years. Four of his sons came to Canada. When I was a little girl growing up in distant Saskatchewan the uncles would gather and tell marvellous tales of living in North Creake. I have a photo of the grandmother riding her tricycle, of the brothers in front of the school house during World War I. When my grandfather died there was a story in the Norwich newspaper of how he passed on the Earl's frock coat to the newly elected Labour Member of Parliament. (The Earl was in the habit of giving Grandfather items of clothing for the poor as many were in need in the 1930's but there was little call for a frock coat among the farm labourers.) Thank you for showing me North Creake. F. Arnett Sbrocchi, Western Australia Last edited: 03/07/2007 14:27 by Frances Arnett Sbrocchi |

1961 & 1962 A memory of Melton Constable, Norfolk The years were 61 and 62. I was the son of an American Serviceman stationed at the Air Base. My father chose to send me to the local elementary school. I was a tan kid from Florida starting the 1st grade In England! My parents would laugh as they heard my speech change and I become one of the local kids. My first grade teacher was Mrs. Hunt. I used to play at a place called "The Rec". It was a magical time in my life and the primary education I recieved there was of great advantage to me. I hope to return someday for a visit. Steven Posted: 07/06/2007 13:55 by Steven Adams |

Middleton Family A memory of Houghton, Norfolk Hi - My family history research finds that my mother Isobella Stephenson was born in Houghton in 1917. Her family may have been in the pub buisness, but her father Harry John Middleton worked for the railways. They eventually ended up in Barnsley where I was born. Any information on this family would be of help to me, Regards Allan Broadhead Last edited: 03/09/2006 00:18 by Allan Broadhead |
