My Grandparents and Father

Hello I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I'm trying to find anything to do with my grandparents /fathers life, especially old photos of the area they lived and worked. My grand father was called Joseph Millington and he had a place of work/ factory in Hawarden. All I know was that it went under the name of Ellis & Millington. He was married to Annie whos parents had a farm at Llong. They had 2 sons Graham and Brian. I would appriciate any information as I would like to put something together for my father as a little surprise as he has just had a birthday and I cannot seem to find a lot on the areas where ...read more here

Saltney Wood Memorial School

Saltney, Wood Memorial School 1906

The picture of the school brings back lots of memories of my childhood. I left there after passing my 11 plus and went to Hawarden Grammar School.
I am now 57 years old and a school teacher in Bangkok, Thailand.

Castle Street 'Picture House'

Caergwrle, Castle Street 1939

The white building on the right used to be the cinema, or as we knew it the 'Picture House'. My late grandfather George Alfred Williams, known as 'Alf' or 'Little Alf' was the projectionist there for many years - he didn't have far to go, he lived about 50 yards further down the road! My mum was born on Castle Street and still lives in the village.
The actual view hasn't changed that dramatically, but the shop is no longer there and the cinema is now used by a mechanical engineering firm.
