Liverpool pilots

Amlwch, the Port c1955

Fond memories of going to Amlwch Port to play as children and walking along Llancarw to Llaneilian with two or three younger children tagging along with us, and waving to the pilots as they moored outside Almwch Port.

home sweet home

I first found the hamlet of Llanelian some 15 years ago after visiting Anglesey on a regular basis for the last 25 years. I found the peace and quiet of the area very pleasant.  The walks are refreshing and the views from Porth Eilian are wonderful.  The church is one of the wonders of the area.
I work in Wilmslow in Cheshire and now commute to Llanelian MY HOME SWEET HOME!

Thank goodness for Ancestors.

To date I have not visited Llangefni. My Grandmother Ann Williams was born there, in 1869. Her Mother's name was Ellen Edwards, born Amlwych c1848. fathers name was Rowland Williams. Hopefully my Husband and I will be able to see, and spend some time in this beautiful part of Wales. My Mother was born in Merthyr Tydfil, so I am proud to say "I am Welsh too". Have a lovely day, and God Bless. Jeanette

Life in the village

Llanfachraeth, c1960

Was wonderful to see this postcard, as I was a child of 7 living in the village, when the photo.was taken. When we moved to the village in 1954 there was no electricity, water was from the village pump and people used chemical or earth closets. In 1960, there was mains water and electricity but no proper sanitation. I have wonderful memories of living in the village, playing in the fields and having easy access to the beach. I have visited the village quite a few times in the past 10 years and have met up with old child hood friends.
