Here are kept the seals of office used by John Bradshaw, who became Lord President of the High Court and took part in the trial of Charles I.
The well kept gardens and fine central portico, supported on six columns, lend a touch of class to the imposing bulk of the Town Hall designed by Bradshaw, Gass & Hope and built between 1937 and 1938
A tranquil backwater off Hickling Broad shows privately-owned yachts at rest among the reeds.
Oakham CC have a fine ground at the Lime Kilns Field, Brooke Road, which was extended to county size.
Most houses alongside the Broads have boathouses rather than garages, and are ideally situated and sought-after as idyllic retreats for authors and writers as well as for local people.
The Broads have been called the pleasure grounds of Norfolk; they are the remains of a huge estuary that once spread over much of the eastern part of the county.
The Bolton firm of Bradshaw, Goss & Hope were the final architects.
In 1930 a competition to design a new town hall was held, and the winners were the architects Bradshaw, Gass & Hope of Bolton.
The reference to the Town Hall is to the one erected in 1795 to the designs of Alderman Bradshaw to replace the earlier one he demolished.
