Thorogoods in my Family Tree
This is not a memory as such, however I have been researching my husband's family tree. When speaking to elderly family members I have found that his grandmother's family, the Thorogoods, come from Shalford. I would like to know if there are any Thorogoods still in Shalford. We can't wait to find out more about your village and discover my husband's roots.

RE: RE: Thorogoods in my Family Tree
I am the grandaughter of a Frederick Thorogood (he emigrated to Australia in 1913). His family lived in Shalford. His parents were Alfred and Augusta Thorogood. They were married in the parish church, Shalford in 1884. I would love a picture of this church if there is one available. Also I am trying to find Alfred's father Henry Thorogood. There are two Henry Thorogoods both from Shalford, one born 1831 (father Benjamin) and the other Henry born 1828 (father Charles). Not sure which father belongs to Alfred? I have searched Ancestory.co.uk but am still not sure. Would anyone know? I can be contacted on harrisfamily5@bigpond.com. Any information would be appreciated.
Regards, Marilyn

RE: RE: Thorogoods in my Family Tree
I've just seen these messages in Frith's re Thorogood family in Shalford. We have a history association in the village. I have collected many old photos and have come across the name Thorogood though I'm not sure if any live in Shalford now.You will have seen the photo of Shalford church in the Frith website. I have several more. On February l4, 2010, the church is celebrating its first building addition in 750 years, a small kitchen/toilet. Shalford has a website. my e-mail is msparks1931@yahoo.com
