- The Cheshire Imp is the name given to a grotesque figure in the north clerestory of the nave of Chester Cathedral.
- Chester is sometimes referred to as "The Walled City" as its medieval walls form the most complete circuit of medieval walls around any town or city in England.
- In Warrington Museum and Art Gallery is a Roman actor's mask, which was found at Wilderspool. It is the only example found in Britain.
- The medieval carved misericords in Nantwich's parish church are quite delightful, with depictions of exotic animals, a mermaid, and even a comic carving of a woman beating her husband with a ladle!
- A window in the church of Daresbury portrays characters from Lewis Carroll's book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". This is because the author, whose real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, was baptised in the church in 1832 - his father was the vicar there, and many of the characters that feature in Lewis Carroll's books are thought to have been inspired by the strange carvings within the church.
- A local tradition says that if you can run up the 108 Steps in Macclesfield in one breath, you will gain your heart's desire.
