Ancestors in Ireland
I have discovered recently that my ancestors actually came from Sligo town. They were members of the McCormick and Boland families. Michael Boland was born in or around 1815 and some of his descendants emigrated to Co Durham. His daughter Mary married Michael McCormick and they were living in Co Durham with their family from the mid 1800s onward. They were all coal miners and there seems to have been a big community from Sligo all living and working in the same area north of Durham city. Michael and Mary's son John was my great grandfather. I wonder if any residents of Sligo now are connected to either of their family lines - I would love to discover more!

RE: RE: Ancestors in Ireland
I have also discovered my ancestors come from Ireland, my great-great-grandparents. Grandfather was John Linskill from Galway, born Around 1832, and he married Sarah ???, she was born in Sligo around 1835, I don't know where or when they married. The earliest record I have is in 1861 in North Shields, he was a brick layer's labourer and they had a son Michael who was 2 and a Margaret who was a sister of his born in 1837, also from Galway Then in 1871 Sarah was in South Shields workhouse with no husband! but 3 children were wlth her - Mary Anne b1862, Peter b1867, and Catherine my great-grandmother, b1870, no sign of previous son Michael. Then in 1881 Michael Linskill was married to a Margaret and they were living with a John and Margaret Garland as step son and step daughter, John Garland was born in Blamire. Finally in 1881 there is another record for John Linskill from Ireland, a pauper in South Shields workhouse with a James Linskill b1874. Please can anyone help? Sorry one more record, also in 1881 Catherine and Peter were living with an auntie named Catherine Joice, also born in Ireland, she was a widow and had a son Martin b1869. The slightest bit of information may give me a lead no matter how small. Thanks to all who have took the time to read through this. Margaret
