New Road School
A message from anyone who might have attended New Road School. My aunt, who was better known as a teacher at New Road School, was called Miss Jones and then Mrs Thornicroft. She is still living in Buckhurst Hill and will be 100 years old in September. If anyone remembers her, she has a wonderful memory and I'd love to send on any messages.

RE: RE: New Road School
I remember Mrs Thornicroft well - she was my first teacher when I started at Larkswood in 1956, and I was also in her class in the top year of the infants. I think she had a lot of time off through ill health in that first year, and remember how we looked forward to her coming back.
As I recall it, her husband used to pick her up from school, and would wait in the car with their poodle....I always used to stop and stroke the dog, and chat to Mr Thornicroft.
I wouldn't expect her to remember me after all this time, but it would be lovely if she did.

RE: RE: New Road School
I think this must be the same Miss Jones, teacher, that lodged with us in Larkswood Road sometime before 1940, when the house was damaged by a land mine and my parents moved to Devon. I understand Miss Jones was away on holiday at the time. My parents were Jim & Blanche (Girlie) Fayne. Would love to know if she remembers them/us. I was about five at the time. Jean nee Fayne
