Trips to Southport Over The Years.

My father's aunt lived in Southport and worked as a radiologist at the Southport Infirmary in those days.  We would visit practically every weekend.  As I grew up and married and had my own children we always loved visiting Southport. My two daughters had such a lot of fun at Pleasureland.  One of my daughters won the Southport Rosebud contest one year which in those days was held in The Floral Pavillion.  I enjoyed Lord Street and we often stopped and listened to the band at the Band Stand on Lord Street.   Many happy memories of Southport!

RE: RE: Trips to Southport Over The Years.

Likewise! I was born in Southport - as was my younger sister - at Christiana Hartley Nursing Home. Our father, Ian Stark, worked at Bickerton School until I was 3 and then my sister was born and we moved to Liverpool. Does anyone remember my father? He was a house master - he said that that meant looking after the boys' welfare etc - not actually one of the teachers. I think he really liked the work after the war and then he got a job in the Royal Liver for the rest of his life. He is 90 years old now. I would love to know if anyone remembered him at all.
