Kingston Beach
This picture with the distinctive lighthouse is of Kingston Beach, behind it and a little to the left was a church hall where the 5th Shoreham Scouts met. I believe it is demolished now......the church hall that is.

RE: RE: Kingston Beach
Hi Dave Cross, read your memory of Kingston Beach; Now..although the lifeboat house has recently been demolished and is currently being rebuilt with better facilities for the boat and crews, the old church hall is still there, and has, I believe been taken over for some other use, but it remains!

RE: RE: Kingston Beach
I lived opposite the lighthouse in the late 1960s. I remember a friend and myself decided to go "skinny dipping " late one night. When we got in the water and turned round, to my horror my mother was following!! The silly woman dropped her towel half way down the beach and as she went to walk to the water's edge the light from the lighthouse came round!! There was my blessed mother making a complete idiot of herself - naked - lit up - and trying to crouch down and hide herself. I was mortified! I also remember looking out of our window (we were dead in line with the harbour entrance) and seeing a ship stuck right across the harbour entrance. Also when I came home from school in the holidays one year I was furious to find out that the the lifeboat crew had bunked down in my bedroom (a really Heath Robinson loft conversion!) after a very late call to sea. How embarrassing - all my frillies were on view, and I had really sad posters on my wall. Loved living there though - great view.
